Name That Pokemon - Medal edition guide

3/4/11 by EdyKel
Updated 3/7/11

Name That Pokemon is a quiz type game where you type in the name for a silhouette of a well known character from popular video games. You will be given a random set of 15 characters (from a total of 212) to name in a single game. You will also have a limited number of hints to help you out.

Gallery

*Thanks to Phenom9 for the following information and image.

Method 1
Use the hints. Search for them here using the find bar. Try the options you find.

Method 2
If you run out of hints or if you want to try something crazy, then look at the silhouette and find it here: Gallery collection. Check the number. Now look for that number in the guide to get a straight answer. But the guide is not numbered! Yeah, about that... :P

Medals

Most of the medals are self explanatory

Score point medals: There are two medals that you can earn by reaching certain scores. Fortunately, you don't have to earn extra time points to get them. You can spend as much time as you want for each character. Each correct answer will give you a minimum of a 100 points. Answer all 15 questions, without skipping any, and you will get the highest score point medal.

Secret medal hint: Terrible score

The main character of Kid Icarus was always Pit. It was the old Captain N Cratoon that always refered to him as Kid Icarus, so yes, you got it right.

I remember watching that Saturday morning cartoon. Man, that takes me back... I guess you're right, I just don't remember the name from the original game, or if it was ever mentioned until his later appearances.

I don't know how can screenshots of the gallery help in any other way. I did not take colour screenshots because the game shows silhouettes. It is easier to find something that looks the same than something that looks different. I bet this is useless. Whatever.

3/7/11 EdyKel responds:

Awesome work, man. Too bad you didn't ad the numbers to the character silhouettes. Now, think of all the disappointed people out there who are going have to tough it out and do it the hard way. ;p

Yeah, I'm not sure how it can help people with the game, other than those who want to complete the gallery and see who they are missing.

you are missing: pacman - ms pacman

Ghouls n Ghosts = Arthur. Equal? Not hyphen?

Many of your titles do not match the ones in the game. Such has the Final fantasy numbers (Roman).

Earthworm Jim... How about Jim? :)

And I can take screenshots if you want.

3/6/11 (Updated 3/6/11) EdyKel responds:

Thanks for the corrections.

When I first wrote the guide, I decided at the time that the Roman numerals would be too confusing, but now that you bring it up, maybe they're better left that way. Changed back to Roman numerals...

Yeah, I forgot about Earthworm Jim. I was holding off on him till I could confirm that Jim was the best answer and not just "Earthworm Jim". Fixed.

And if you send me the links to the gallery images, I'll post them and give you credit for them.

Thank you!

Hooray!

How long did it take make this up?

3/4/11 EdyKel responds:

It took longer than I wanted. I was still trying to unlock all the gallery for the game, and checking spelling and looking for alternative names and such.

Nice game, by the way. If it was a few years back, I could have gone through it easier without all the wiki look-ups - mostly for spelling.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I know it wasn't perfect, but working on it for over 3 hours, with a growing headache, and the need to go to bed (1:00 AM), I was bound to miss a few things.

I haven't decide if I'm going to add a gallery numbers section or not. If I do, I might just put links to images of the gallery pages. The thought of typing it all out again in order of the number just doesn't sound fun.

Missing: Fire Emblem - Ike

Kid Icarus is out of order, which made me think it was missing

For Resistance, Fall of Man you have to type Nathan Hale; just Nathan won't do it

Alucard is listed as Castlevania III

Mortal Kombat: Subzero also works for Scorpion

Pacman: "Blinky" also works for the ghost (and is in fact the real answer)

Also worth noting: spaces aren't required in 2-word characters (ie drmario will do)

3/4/11 EdyKel responds:

Thanks. Updated them on the list.

You can also use Pinky for Pacman. You can probably use any of the 4 ghost names from Pacman, but I can only remember those two. I'll try to find out the other two names.

I know space, and uppercase letters, aren't required, but I thought they would make the answers more recognizable to people instead of just globing them together.

Not for nothing, but since they're all numbered in the gallery, could you add the numbers here? You only get so many hints per game, and if you run out then this guide isn't much use to you any more.

Also, for Tony Hawk you have to type Tony Hawk; just Tony won't do it

3/4/11 EdyKel responds:

Well... I though listing them by game would be a lot easier for everyone. listing them by number doesn't really help you unless you're wondering who is missing from your gallery. I might ad some screenshots of all the pages in the gallery by tonight. No promise, though.

I updated the Tony hawk answer. Thanks. Also, Hawk alone works fine also.

Also, Yoshimetsu is called Yoshimitsu (Tekken), you forgot to include the game Fire Emblem, and I think you forgot a character of Fall of Men. These are the mistakes I found on my 2nd playthrough. Other than this, very nice work.

3/4/11 EdyKel responds:

Yeah, spelling can be criticaly for this game, and a lot of names I had to look up just for that alone. Thanks for correcting me on some of them. List Updated.

I believe Nathan Hale is the only character from Resistance, and Dimono corrected me on my partial answer.

Awesome guide. The Starcraft character is actually called (Sarah) Kerrigan, most likely a typo on your part.

3/4/11 EdyKel responds:

Haven't played Starcraft in a long time. I just remembered it was Kerrigan, and that alone works fine. I did edit the list and made "Sarah" the main answer, and Kerrigan as the alt.. Thanks
